Watching the students line up at ceremony, I saw a man who looked about my age, who was getting his diploma. I was proud for him and his achievement, and bit jealous that he could make the time to get it done. Best wishes to you, sir!

My son graduates with his Bachelors Degree, Cum Laude!
He is the first in my family to graduate with a four year degree. And he is already in talks for a teaching job.
So, Gerrit Lush....Up Your Nose with a Rubber Hose! May the Fleas of A Thousand Camels infest your Armpits!
But, seriously, I am so proud of him. It seemed like such a long slog at the beginning, and there were discouragements at times, but he made it!

My son has a very significant interview today..
by Captain Schmideo2 inhe is just days away from graduation with his bachelor's in english, and today, he has an interview with a recruiter for an agency that help with finding teaching positions in south korea.. i took it upon myself to research the company and his interviewer, and it's been high marks all around on both of them.
so that's a great ease on my mind.i just hope the interview (over the phone) goes well, and results in the next steps to getting a position.my son spent a month in seoul last summer, an loved the place.
he has friends out there as well, including a young man that he attended classes with here in the states, so i think that's a real plus in taking this very giant leap.when i was his age, i was slowly working my way through a two year degree, still living at home, and aspiring to nothing more than a job as a repairman.

As it turns out, this interview with the recruiter was just informational in nature. He states that he can get my son a position for August (!), so I imagine that the "real" interview with the employer will be coming soon...

FYI, Wendy Pini is the artist behind the incredible "Elf-Quest" series, and also created "Masque of the Red Death" which features gay characters.

Cult Think-How to deflate good news
by Captain Schmideo2 inme:"my son is going to south korea to teach english.
he'll get to live in another country, expand his horizons, and live comfortably while he is there!
"deeply devout jw brother-in-law:"oh, it's really bad in south korea.

Me:"My son is going to South Korea to teach English. He'll get to live in another country, expand his horizons, and live comfortably while he is there!"
Deeply devout JW brother-in-law:"Oh, it's really bad in South Korea. The brothers have a bad time over there, they get thrown in prison because they won't serve in the military..."
or
Me:"My son has gotten an amazing opportunity to do an internship in Moscow! His lodgings are provided, he gets a living stipend, and he'll be working at Yandex, the Russian version of Google!"
Deeply devout JW mother-in-law:"They still ban Jehovah's Witnesses in Russia. They are not allowed to preach!"
I know I should realize by now that this is going to be the reaction to anything that doesn't have to do with Pioneering or Bethel, but it still just disappoints and makes me mad.
It also drives home the reason why I, as a young man, never really did anything like this, because I knew that there would be some form of disapproval, either vocal, or in the eyes, of family and members of the Hall.
So, eff all of them! My sons will get to have life experiences that my idiot brother-in-law will never have, or will never be sentenced to a life of waiting for a bus that will never, ever arrive, like my mother-in-law has done to herself. -

Mid Week Meeting. The book of Job....what does this teach me about Jehovah
by tor1500 inis it me or are you having a hard time commenting on what does this week's bible reading teach me about jehovah & what points from this week's bible study reading can i use in the field ministry ?
i'm having a hard time commenting because what does job show about jehovah....well, # 1 he allowed job's suffering, but he didn't let satan take his life.
# 2 what scripture could one use in the field ministry regarding the book of job...talking to a householder, see if you don't behave, god's gonna get you....or allow satan to get you.

Allegory, pure and simple. A mythological allegory. If it had been written in the 1700's, it would have been signed by the Brothers Grimm.

Robo: he has read the accounts, how contracts sometimes are treated like "guidlines" rather than iron clad. And a lot depends on the school. He is avoiding the infamous Hagwon route.
